- Flights: a Mumbai–Johannesburg search for February 2027 showed only one-stop options, so plan on a connection. South African Airways has announced plans for Mumbai; check whether it is flying. A stop of over 12 hours at an airport in a yellow-fever-risk country such as Ethiopia or Kenya means you need a yellow fever certificate, or risk refused entry or quarantine.
- Malaria: Kruger and the surrounding low-lying areas are a risk zone. Antimalarial tablets are advised for September–May, so see a doctor before travel and use mosquito protection all year.
- Cape Town’s cool, rainy season; the Table Mountain cableway can close in bad weather and shut for annual maintenance in winter (27 July–9 August in 2026). This is Kruger’s drier season.
- Hot, rainy summer around Kruger and Johannesburg; drier in Cape Town.
